There are numerous theories as to how tarot cards came into existence; there is no definitive, proven conclusion.

One such theory is that the Major Arcana cards were created for the pharaohs in Ancient Egypt and were huge gold bars placed on a conveyor belt, which were turned over by slaves and read by a mystic. The pharaohs were only concerned with the "big picture" of things to come since they felt they were above small and petty problems.

The Minor Arcana cards were created and added by the Romans centuries later. I heard a rumour many years ago that the original tarot book is in The Vatican!

If you are interested in the many stories regarding the creation of the tarot cards, then this is not the book for you. However, if you want to learn how to read the cards without all the fluff and long boring explanations for each and ever card...then this is the book for you.

Personally, I was never concerned about where the cards came from, only where the cards could take me and my clients.   I've attempted to make the interpretations as simple as possible using esoteric meanings infused with astrology and numerology.
