Darrel Baldock The Incomparable 'Mr Magic' by Peter Lyons

Known by almost everyone as 'Doc', but also as 'Mr Magic', Darrel Baldock captained St Kilda's only Premiership team in 1966. He was, perhaps, Australia's best footballer in his era and is still considered by many as the best player produced by Tasmania.

Doc was much more than a champion footballer though. He was also a prominent Tasmanian politician; racehorse breeder, owner and trainer; an outstanding cricketer, and had great success in his early years as a pigeon breeder and racer.
