'Liliums do best in the same acid soil loved by rhododendrons and azaleas. This is why I always grow their bulbs in any space I can find between these plants.
With good, well-drained soil, fertilisers need not be applied when putting in liliums, except perhaps for well-made compost.'

'Most peas need something to climb on, helping them produce heavy crops which are easy to pick. For years I have used the same short pieces of fencing wire. They are bent double to form a kind of long 'U' about a metre in length. . .
